While crossing the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace, the Professor became aware of a stir going on within a few feet of us. Police officers were kneeling around something on the sidewalk. From below as we walked through St James Park, we looked back and could not see anything more than police kneeling and two mounted officers arrive on the scene. A minute or so later we heard sirens. But we hear police and ambulance sirens frequently here. The Professor suggested that maybe the police had found an unidentified package.
It was not until we got back to our apartment several hours later that we discovered that we were on the scene just as the police had taken down the man with the knife and were cuffing him. The two police on horses took up position on either side of the arrest to prevent onlookers from interfering.

Man arrested
Soldiers to guard Buckingham Palace and Downing Street in order to free up manpower for the metropolitan police to cover other areas of London.
Moments later Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip passed that area.
No ceremony today
This all happens following the tragedy in Manchester.
