Some of My Favorites

Babies are such good subjects because they are so unconscious of how they look or appear.  This little one has no trouble laughing.  And he is just as sweet fast asleep.

You got out of town just in time

2:19 PM (34 minutes ago)

I made it back from the airport before throwing up, but have not quit doing so all day long...except in the times when I sleep in between.  I have no idea where this came from but I hope sincerely that I did not send it home with any of my daughter's family.

Probably my family is in lucky that the Professor and I are not going home to visit for Thanksgiving.  I've got a feeling the Professor is not going to sleep in the same bed with me tonight.

Let me know how all of you are doing.  I miss you.  But at the moment am not at all sad that I am not with you sharing these unknown germs.

Mental Illness

Just to be clear here.  It is my family of origin that I am thinking of when I laugh at this cartoon.  Not my own children and grandchildren.

Back in Virginia

I am back in Virginia with Dad again after a very uncomfortable trip across the country.  My flight from El Paso was delayed one hour because of mechanical problems.  Something was leaking into the cargo hold.  El Paso has a very small airport so Delta does not have any mechanics stationed there.  When the problem arose, a contract mechanic had to be called in.  It took the mechanic 30 minutes to get there.

Needless to say, I missed my connecting flight.  I should have been back at Reagan National airport in VA, at 9:05.  Instead I arrived at about 11:25.  I went to get my luggage and kept praying that it was going to actually be there.  And it was one of the first bags off the plane.  Sighs of relief.

So I got to the Metro at about 11:45.  The sign said that the next BLUE line train would be there in 12 minutes.  About 27 minutes later, it showed up.  In that time 3 blue and 2 yellow trains had come and gone going in the opposite direction.

The station at the airport is very well lighted.  However, the wind was blowing ferociously so it was very very cold.  Thank goodness there were a few glass shelters to hide behind out of the direct wind.  There were very few people there at that hour so I didn't have to huddle beside anyone to keep out of the wind.

I changed trains at Roslyn to reach our local station.  It was crowded with people but I had only a 7 minute wait.  And thank goodness Dad came to pick me up at the Metro.  It is not a long walk from our place to the station but it was really cold.  So instead of getting home at about 10 last night I got back close to 1 in the morning.

The wind is blowing again today.  Waiting by the van for Dad after church I had to hold my skirt down because it was doing the Marilyn Monroe thing except there was no grate.

Glad to be home and inside watching the trees swaying in the wind.
