We slept in late and had a slow start to our day. After being crushed by bus loads of school children at the museums, we decided to avoid all of the museums. Of course, the museums might be quieter on the weekend than during the week. Still, we decided to follow this motto below and go for fish and chips for lunch. The Sussex fish and chips shop by Paddington fell into our lap by chance, not by research and study.
We got off the train two years ago and were hungry and stopped at a quiet fish and chips shop.
Later we discovered that this was one of the best fish and chips restaurants in the area.
You might at first hesitate to step into Sussex Fish Bar as it's a very small joint with a few tables and very modest décor. The fact that we were the only customers made us a bit more apprehensive. However, the cod fish, chips, and salad were all very good and the portions were ample too. Not very wide choice of drinks however. The waiter hardly knew English. Service was quick though.
This is a review on Tripadvisor. It is accurate but I was so delighted with the comments that I thought I would share.
This is a church I had not seen that we passed on our way home. Then back to our usual neighborhood. With a few drops of rain here and there.
St James of Sussex - Paddington Parrish
Walking back to our apartment we passed this church that looked a little out of place among the
sedate white houses in the area.
