Wednesday in New York City

The Professor said that he would not have me walk today from the top of Manhattan to the bottom.  We didn't but I am not sure if my feet don't feel as if they did.

The sidewalk in front of the building.

Hansel and Gretel and the Nutcracker have big posters at Lincoln Center not far from the NYC temple.

New York City - Day Two

The Professor and I went down to the end of the island today and looked out at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Both of them were partially hidden in fog.  We walked over to Wall Street and then over to the memorial for the World Trade Towers.

Lunch in China town and a trip to Macy's.  Bought sandwiches for this evening and almost made it back to the hotel before it started raining.  We got a little wet on the way.  Another nice day though with mild temperatures and not too much wind.

Another tourist took a picture of the two of us together.  We were surprised to
learn that he and his wife were from Finland.

There are two pools located where the two buildings used to stand.  Since this picture is off the internet, it shows leaves on trees.  There were still leaves on some of the trees but they were definitely a dry brown.

We saw several roses with the stems stuck into the chiseled names.

We were going to go into the museum, but we found out that you have to make a reservation with tickets as you once had to do with the Holocaust museum in DC.  When we were there, the people with 12:00 tickets were lining up.  The line to get tickets was extremely long.  I am not sure if you could get tickets online so that it would be possible to visit the museum during  a brief trip into NYC

Believe sign on front of Macy's. The theme of Macy's windows this year is "yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

Virginia checked the library for an answer to her question.

More from Day Two

Columbus Circle: Not too surprising that the market is packed with people.  Even at 9 in the morning.

Lunch in Chinatown.  I am sure no one is surprised.

It was so fun to see fruit and vegetables being sold outside of the shops.  Some of the seafood
looked a little scary.  Look at those snails.  I don't know if they were all still alive.
My guess is "yes".

We stood in line at Whole Foods to make our purchase.  All of the people in this area have 10 or less items to buy.  If you are in the yellow line, you wait for a free cashier when the number shows up on the yellow square on the electronic device. We were there at about 3:30 in the afternoon.  Not after everyone was off work. We didn't check to see how busy it was at 9 in the morning.
