Covent Gardens

A couple of new additions at Kensington Gardens.  It is not far away from the official playground.
We are guessing that it will start running this weekend.

Serpentine with Moore's Arch on the other side of the lake.

Seagulls in a row

We tried to capture this amusing swan but it was just too difficult.  For one thing, it would
not cooperate and hold still.  It is eating something in the water.  It is standing on one webbed foot
with the one away from our view tucked up close to the wing acting as a paddle.

We are always suckers for new babies.  We still have not seen very many when we consider
the size of the two parks side by side.

Princess Diana Memorial Fountain.

On this green sign outside the fenced in fountain, there is a picture of children wading in
the water.  It was a hot day and I am sure the children and parents were having fun.

All around this loop there are changes in the flow of water. Sometimes it is like a waterfall.
In other places, the flow is very thin. It is an enchanting place to visit.

The first paddle boat we have seen this year.

This supercilious cafe is called the Lido.

We think there were five tiny swans. The waterfowl in the lake take care of their new ones together.
We have seen both ducks and swans get load and aggressive if their babies are threatened.
Literally, mom and dad are standing by.

California poppies

When we came to London a few weeks ago there were no roses in bloom in this garden.  Now they are in full bloom and are already starting to fade.  Some wonderful aromas.

An untamed section of the park under some shade trees.

Apsley Arch close to Apsley house where Wellington lived.

We were surprised to see these guards just leaving their barracks and parade ground.
Notice that they are in dark uniforms instead of the red.

Can you see the horse and guard in the box?

Trafalgar Square with the statue of Nelson.

National Portrait Gallery in the background

This is one of those mysterious people who is suspended in the air by some invisible means.
When someone (not us) dropped some coins in his cup, he did a complete summersault
in mid-air.

Paper birds suspended from the ceiling of St Martins in the Fields.
A free recital was scheduled for the lunch hour, but we were there an hour too early.

Yes, this is really the store we all love to shop at.  TJmaxx.  I have not gone by to check out the prices though.  Can't tell you much about it.

Water and a muffin while I sit on the concrete in the shade at Covent Garden.

By all of the artificial flowers was an invitation to take a picture of yourself and post it online.
I assume advertising Covent Garden. Two young women volunteered to do a picture of Dad and me together on the bench.

No bench. Just a background of flowers.

I think these are just little three-dimensional pictures to display.  Really unusual.  And so delicate and lovely.

We discovered that Aubaine has a deli at Covent Gardens.  Pretty basic but a place to eat
outside on the other side of the building.  Pastries and some sandwiches and drinks.

I  would love to browse at all of the stalls with one or all of my daughters and granddaughters.

Just curious about the windows next to the chimneys.  Are they actually windows that help to light a room or are they "fake" dormer windows?

We had lunch at this small restaurant.  Not sure we will try it again. Only a few blocks from where we live.
