One morning last week we saw this group sitting on the beach. All of them with shaved heads and wearing brown. We could see their lunch basket they had brought with them and as you can see many of them brought peasant hats to protect their heads and faces from the sun. (Just a sidenote about the sloping hats that the Chinese have worn for centuries. Working in the fields and woods can be dangerous. If a snake should fall from a tree onto the head, the sloping hat will allow the snake to slide right off onto the ground. Neither a sombrero or a cowboy hat would protect you in the jungle.)

Despite the fact that the ocean was very calm and flat with no impressive waves, there were a lot of surfers hoping to catch a wave.
These pictures were taken in the early morning and this section of the beach is completely in the shadow of the cliff until the sun gets higher in the sky. The rocks in the distance are the same rocks that we were able to walk on the waterless sand to the other side just a few days earlier.
Okay, I am the one solely responsible for these sneaky photographs. These three women ventured beyond the group sitting quietly by the ocean. All three of them are wet from "playing" in the ocean. We saw only a few other people from their group who wander away to explore the ocean side.
Saturday morning, August 5th, we saw this group at the beach. All of them wearing bright yellow skirts. They are even more of a mystery to me than the quiet meditating group in brown.
Saturday morning at 7:30 it is impossible to park next to the beach. We parked in the village and walked to and from the beach to our car. That should explain the shoes I am carrying.
