Dinner and a Show

Dinner and a show.  I am the one who chose to go to Five Guys for a little hamburger and fries.
The fast food place was almost next door to the Dominion Theatre. The potatoes used there were from England.  Not Idaho or Washington.

I apologize for my lack of technical skills.  The following entries are spaced a little strangely.

This amazing thing happened on Sunday.  A sister in the Hyde Park 2 ward asked me if I had seen An American in Paris.  We had not and she promptly gave me two complimentary tickets for the show on Monday night.  Venessa Thead is my benefactor.  She works at the London Museum.  It is the one at Barbican and is a chronology of the history of London.  Going back to pre-Roman dates.

Our seats turned out to be so much better than we anticipated.  We were close to the back of the stalls but we sat almost in the center of the row.  And there was a completely empty row in front of us.  No one's head to obstruct the view.  Incredible. And that describes the show.

The foyer of the theater.  The Dominion started life as a movie theater.  It now seats 2000 people.  Last night it had a good audience but was not close to full.

I could not resist.  Such opposites on one little plaque.

I must remember to look in the small mirror I carry before letting the Professor take pictures.

We walked across the parks today going out for lunch.  We had intended to go to the Polish restaurant again. However the set lunch today started with cauliflower soup.  We walked a few blocks further and had donor kebab instead.  And the place is definitely a hole in the wall.  I am sitting with my back to the door that opens onto the alley.  There are three tables in this tiny hallway. We had enough food left over to feed us for another meal.

A window full of eclairs

This is an area in Hyde Park where anyone can come to play tennis or to lawn bowl. It didn't seem very busy when we were there.  The small cafe had more business than the grounds.

The only people interested in lawn bowling or boules were this father and son.

The only way that we could get onto the green was by taking a short-cut through the Will to Win cafe.  It was busy and no one question us about what we were doing there.

We were very surprised to find this little family by the lake.  Six goslings  My research the other day about Egyptian geese said that they can have as many as 10 little ones.  They were imported by some landowner from Africa.  There have been so many cases of people importing invasive species. Australia has not a natural predator for the rabbit and they are a huge problem in their country.  In the south, someone imported kudzu that is destroying trees. The Uk's latest import has been a virus that destroys horse chestnut trees. Somehow this little invader seems to have adapted and fit in despite coming from a hot dry climate to cold rainy England.  And aren't they darling?  Even though they are in a park in the middle of a huge city, these little guys are not safe from predators. Of course, I wish I could be sure that all six of them with grow up.

Trivia

Please note that these are not cookies but teacakes.

A house in our neighborhood that is out of place.  It should be on a quiet residential street

Apparently, there are no rules/laws about which direction your car faces when parked.  We see this all of the time on our street with its three parking lanes.
