Walking through the park we saw large groups of school children walking towards Exhibition Road and the museums.
Exhibition Road
Exhibition Road, which runs from South Kensington in the south to Hyde Park in the north, is home to some of the most important visitor attractions in the country, a unique collection of cultural and educational institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College London. Since the Great Exhibition of 1851 Exhibition Road has been a major destination and now attracts over 11 million visitors each year.
I could not resist sitting on this bench for a moment with all of the spring flowers in the background. As you can see from my hair, it was just a bit windy but warm enough that I took off my hat and gloves. This evening freezing weather is supposed to be moving in again.
SNOW is forecast to hit the UK this weekend, covering almost ALL areas of the country as the Beast From The East Part 2 smashes into Britain sending temperatures plummeting.
Currently at the Sackler Serpentine Callery
Parakeets with their many fans in the park
Pigeons in the trees as well as covering the ground. I think they are trying to take advantage of all the people who have come to feed the parakeets. Including me. Earl checked the internet before we left the flat to find out what parakeets eat. Fruit was one of the foods listed. I cut up a pear and put some almonds and peanuts into my pocket as well.
As you can see I had a lot of company from the pigeons. They were not interested in the cut-up pear but snatched up all of the nuts. As you can see in the picture below, one of the pigeons talons were covered in mud. My sweater survived but the shirt underneath was destined for the laundry hamper.
We were surprised to see a swan and some ducks swimming in the ponds at the Italian Garden. This is a small garden in a corner of Kensington Gardens.
Cleaning the mud off my hands with water from a fountain in the Italian Garden.
Two little bears hugging each other. This is not the first fountain that we have seen in London which was constructed by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association.
The tiny buds are starting to fall from the trees. Some, but not all, of the trees have small leaves ready to take the place of the blossoms. I wonder what the cold weather will do to the trees.
We are planning to be prepared to feed the waterfowl when our granddaughters come to visit.
