Hotel Orto de Medici

The history book in our hotel room said that the hotel was built where a garden belonging to the Medici family once stood.

This is really freshly squeezed orange juice.  The oranges looked exactly like any other oranges that we have seen, but the juice of three oranges filled the glass with a rosy liquid that was delicious.  And tasted exactly like orange juice.

Reading and TV room

Notice that the glass next to the shower is very small.  Just enough to keep the room dry.  Our hotel's bath/shower in Barcelona was designed the same way.

We discovered at the airport that you have to be smarter than the machines when we tried to get a drink from the fountain.  It looked as if there was no spout.  It popped up when you hit the right buttons.  The bathroom at our hotel was a trial and error experience as well.  When there is no handle to jiggle or tank to take the lid off, what do you do with a toilet that keeps running?  We figured that one out too.

We enjoyed our stay in a room off the courtyard of the hotel.  We had a very simple room but it was comfortable and the Professor and I would gladly have transported the room, the bed and pillows, closets and bathroom back to the Paris apartment if we could.

Although it rained while we were in Florence, we enjoyed the brief stay in warmer weather.  I wore my raincoat most of the time.  Although this is supposed to be the one of the warmest winters France has had in the last 100 years, we still put on wool scarves and gloves to go outside this morning. Wind and rain in the face can be chilly.
