Letter to Marilyn

What did you think of the Greatest Showman?  My feelings were so so.  Seen others I liked much better.  I did look up Shepard the illustrator of Winnie the Pooh.  The only thing it said there was that the bear looked like Shepard's son's bear and not Milne's.

We have been trying to get out and walk somewhere every day.  Earl comes back to the apartment and works on the computer while I diddle or read.  :o)

We are going to Germany in about ten days.  Earl has four speaking engagements, so at the moment he is working on those and the powerpoint programs to go with them.  In a week  in Germany we are hitting about four different cities.  I wonder what the weather will be like.   Last time we went to Germany, I spent the whole day in a museum of modern art because it was pouring.  Probably snow this time. And modern art is not my favorite thing.  Just weird sometimes.  We went to a free museum in Hyde Park yesterday. Rose Wylie.  She is still alive.  Born in 1934.  And still painting.

This is a huge painting as you can see.  The top half is the Blitz over London in 1940 and the bottom is Hyde Park close to wear the Serpentine Sackler museum is located.  I have seen things much stranger than hers. She says she paints from memory and from the cinema.
So far both of us are doing okay.  I now only puff up the last of the four flights (about 12 steps each) of stairs.  Doing much better.

Don't know what the flu is doing here but both of us are doing much better at making sure that our hands are sanitized before we eat especially.

We were able to watch the announcement of the new first presidency over the Internet hooked up to our TV.  I am glad that was available for us.  At four in the afternoon of course.   President Oaks' sister lives in the Edgemont fifth ward where we used to live.  He would come visit her and the ward occasionally. He came and sat in a Sunday School class for 16 year olds that I was teaching.  Nervous and humbled. But impressed with his kindness.

I am glad your knees are doing well.  We are both so grateful that we can go walk around London for a couple of hours with ease.  We are definitely bundled up though. We have had two days in a row of clear skies and sunshine and a bitter wind. We went an outdoor market Spitalfield.  Not a lot going on in the winter. There were still lots of food vendors but like Borough Market no place to sit once you have bought your lunch. Of course mostly exotic foods from Asia and the Middle East.

So good to hear from you.  I am not sure if we will make it to the temple here.  I guess it is one of those places like in Helsinki that you can not get to unless you have your own car.

Lots of love, Elaine
