And we are off to Germany

It was not a very long flight from London's Heathrow to Basel Switzerland.  The EuroAeroport in Basel is very unique. It services three cities in three different countries.  Basel, Switzerland, and Mulhouse, France and Freiburg, Germany.

Wikipedia

Basel Airport is located some 3.7 miles / 7 km northwest of Basel city centre. The airport also serves the city of Mulhouse, which is located 14 miles / 22 km away and the historic city of Freiburg, which is located some 43 miles / 70 km across the border in Germany.
Although the airport actually sits on French territory, it is jointly operated by Switzerland and France. Last year the airport was used by some 5 million passengers, as the area is a popular destination for both tourists and business travellers.

This picture taken by Earl clearly shows the name of the airport but does not show what cities it serves. When we landed at the airport we actually landed in France.  Two of the cities this airport serves are not next door. Both Freiburg and Mulhouse are several hours drive away.  We took the bus with just two passengers besides us.  The bus station turned out to be only about a block and a half away from both the bus station and the train station.

We stood in the long, long immigration line for all people who were not traveling with a passport from the EU or the Uk, that I didn't even think about taking some pictures of signs that I will never see again.

This is a picture from the internet that says it no longer exists, so it might vanish at any moment.
As you leave customs you are greeted by a series of signs similar to this one.

Ausgang Frankreich-Deutschland
Sortie France - Allemagne
Exit France - Germany

Further along as we walked towards the exit to get our bus we saw one sign with an arrow pointing to our left saying
France Germany
There sign pointing to our right said
Switzerland

The embassy had suggested that we take a taxi from the airport to Freiberg. The price they quoted was about $200.00 for the trip.  Earl checked out the situation and found that we could take the airport shuttle for 20 Euros each.  So we set out on a bus. Very easy and convenient
