We attended church today at the American Church in Paris (ACP). Because we were there to attend a service we did not feel it appropriate to take any photographs. These are a few of the pictures that were available online.
The American Church in Paris, 65 Quai D'Orsay - This is a postcard that was mailed to Mrs. Jayne May Brooks - 9 rue Falquierre, Paris, France. she was the sister of Mrs MacPherson. Postcard is from the William Blackshear collection, which was donated to the Palestine Public Library.
We learned yesterday that the daughter of an Edgemont 5th ward family was singing at the church service today. Alisa is the daughter of our friends Patty and Roger Peterson. Roger died quite suddenly just a few years ago.
It was very special to have the opportunity to hear Alisa sing "O, Divine Redeemer."
We don't often attend the services of another religious group. It was interesting to attend the meeting today.
Today is a special Sunday because it is the first Sunday of Lent. I could not help but wonder if the music was that wonderful every Sunday. The organ, an a cappella choir and a children's bell ringing group. Alisa was the final singer in the program. She has a wonderful voice.
The preaching and program were an interesting combination of convention and modern preaching. The sermon was about the temptations of Christ and about how we need to recognize at Lent time that we are loved by the Savior and be committed to serving others and him. The speaker emphasized that the Savior has given us the greatest gift of all.
The prayers included pleas on behalf of all of the refugees.

There was a real sense of fellowship and belonging in their congregation. So many people greeted each other upon arriving. People turned and shook hands with us. They had a very fun lesson especially for the children before dismissing them to go to children's worship. A woman was given a box of chocolates to take care of for a man. And she was so tempted to try just one. Of course, it was a message about the temptations of Christ and about resisting temptations in our own lives.
