The beach at Del Mar is still a favorite beach for our adult children. They like to bring their
own children here to play in the sand and water. It is a family friendly beach and is rarely
really crowded at the north end of the beach close to the 25th Street lifeguard station.
Just to make the information clear, the ocean is in the west in California. In the top picture
I am facing south and in the bottom one I am facing north.
As you can see at ten o'clock on Saturday morning the north end of the Del Mar
beach is not a busy place.
The new lifeguard headquarters in Del Mar. Probably finished about 2 or 3
years ago.
If you enlarge this picture, you will see two fishing poles. On our way back down the
beach we passed the fisherman. He was packing up. He had a beautiful silver fish
that he said was for his dinner.
In the background are several lifeguards. They are getting ready to
be driven along the beach and left to open up life guard stations.
The cylinder poles behind me have water to wash sand off
your legs and feet. Because of the drought in California and water shortages, the lifeguard
station on 25th Street has the water shut off. There you can use a Harper Broad Block
brush to get the worst of the sand off your feet and legs. The bristles are soft.
The Professor teases me about my legs. Here is a fairly close shot of them.
Not too bad foran old woman. At least they get me everywhere I want to go.
And I do not say that facetiously.
I feel very humble after having Bette stay with us for four days. Getting up from a chair.
Walking down the hall to the bathroom. With two arthritic knees every movement is
a challenge. She is so courageous.
I am amazed that she would get on an airplane and come to visit us.
Swimming on the yellow flag side and surfing and games
(such as volleyball) on the red side.
