Sitting on a wall looking out at the beach
Apparently this flock of seagulls has finished fishing for the day
and are having a mid morning break
Trying to capture the tiny fish on film in the tide pool
Master of all he surveys. Maybe he is the lookout for all of those gulls taking a nap.
Tiny crab
Snails and or hermit crabs
We have no idea what scientific phenomena these plastic
strips are measuring. There are several of them on rocks that are about at
the edge of the tide.
When we walk along the beach, especially by the pier, we always look for fish.
Sometimes we are lucky and see a guitar fish. Today the Professor kept seeing fish swept in with
the tide rapidly turning and swimming back away from the shore.
He is about 8 or 9 inches taller than I am which definitely gives him a viewing advantage.
Today as we were walking along in the shallow water, both of us saw five good sized
fish darting back towards the ocean. Another couple happened to stop and talk to us about the
fish. The man was a marine biologist and had no trouble identifying the fish for us.
The fish we had been watching is a corbina or possibly a corvina. The description under the
corbina sounds similar to what we saw. In any case there was absolutely no chance that we were going to catch this fish with the camera. Almost completely camouflaged against the sandy ocean bottom and quick moving.
We have not seen very many of these birds this summer.
This is a very unusual wedding picture. If you look closely you can see the bride with
a veil on just in front of the pink surfboard.
We see brides and grooms dressed for the weddding ceremony fairly often having pictures taken close to the pier. We have no idea whether they are actually wedding pictures on the beach or just for some bridal advertising. Usually it is the bride and groom or sometimes just the bride and a photographer. It was fun to see this couple celebrating with their friends and an amateur photographer.
We see kayaks being launched or coming in all of the time at La Jolla Shores.
These are unusual because they are privately owned kayaks designed for fishing.
This was just a very casual shot while walking along the beach. The ocean was
full of bobbing neon green t-shirts.
Every year the privacy in the back yard increases as the vegetation grows
We have discovered that the umbrella is an iffy asset. If we eat too late in the
afternoon the setting sun hits only the table and not the umbrella. No shade at all.
