Visiting the Impressionists at Musee Quai d'Orsay on Sunday, I saw a picture painted by Mary Cassatt that I do not remember having seen before.  As far as I could tell this was the only Cassatt at the musee.  The only thing that kept me from feeling sad is knowing that some astute person bought Cassatt's paintings in Europe and brought them back to the United States where many of them are on display at museums.

It was love at first sight.  The painting is called Young Woman Sewing in the Garden.

We went to d'Orsay late in the afternoon and spent about 45 minutes waiting in line to get in.  When we were there we went up to the 5th floor to see the Impressionists and spent an hour there.  We did not see anything other than the entry hall.  The Professor suggested that some day, I go to the museum by myself and rent the headphones guide.  Sounds like a good idea.

We were pretty tired by the time we headed home after visiting four "attractions" and church in one day.  Fortunately right by the museum is an RER line that goes to Concorde and from there back to the apartment.  Sigh.
