Coming up from the metro we found ourselves just across the street from this enormous and very unusual building.  It literally took my breath away.  I was so surprised to have it right in front of us at the metro exit. It is called the Temple de Sagrada Familia.  It is a monument to the Holy Family. The architect is Antoni Gaudi.  He died long before much of the building began to take shape.  If you click on this link you will have a virtual tour of the finished interior.  It is quite extraordinary.

If I understand what I have read briefly about Antoni Gaudi, he believed that since there were no straight lines in nature that there should be none in his designs as well.  Parts of this huge edifice remind me of a sand castle where some of the sand became liquid and ran down the castle.  Definitely unlike anything I have seen before.
