Odds and Ends at the beach

Not really good shots of the green and yellow kayaks.  When they are stacked together
they look a lot like giant bananas.

We have never seen water on the beach like this before.  It is high above the usual
high tide marks on the beach.  When it receded it was trapped by the sand dune
even though the hump of sand is very small.

When we walked south on the beach this morning we saw this prosthetic
leg standing beside the board.  I was tempted to take a picture but felt concerned about
making the owner feel uncomfortable.  Coming back up the beach these people were so
busy talking to each other that I took a picture.  We have seen a woman with one prosthetic leg on the beach in the early mornings walking her dog.  Personally I think that these women are
super heroes.

People swimming parallel to the shore.  Actually a very unusual sight.
People rarely are swimming at La Jolla Shores

I am not sure if we have ever seen one person diving alone before.

Lots of boards at the beach.
It was fun to see these girls enjoying themselves on inner tubes.

A fairly common sight on the beach.  Someone looking for lost treasures
or at least for something metallic

Waves crashing onto the beach one right after the other.

On Tuesdays a club for children meets at this end of the hotel.

The official flower for August birthdays.
The gladiolus.
Growing up it was the only flower that my father grew in his garden.  When
I was young I thought it would be so nice if he grew roses or something else.  I was
a little bored with the constant supply of gladiolus in the summer.  Now that I am
older I appreciate how beautiful these flowers are. These blossoms were for sale
at Sprouts market today.
