Last week in California

Tuesday morning we were surprised when we got closer to La Jolla.  Just after we got onto state highway 52, we could see the blanket of fog cloaking the road and the hills ahead of us.

After several hot days, I resorted to wearing a sweater for our walk on the beach.  By the end of our hour long walk, I had taken the sweater off. In the bottom photograph is the Scripps pier somewhere behind me.

Wednesday morning the road ahead still vanished into the low lying marine layer.

Thursday the sun was out at the house and at the beach.  This is the professor in front of our favorite
classic automobile.  It is a Woody/Woodie from after 1950 but it has the very old black and yellow
California plates. You can just see our white car parked next to it.

We were not fast enough with the camera today.  We came across a huge banner saying "FINISH LINE" on it.  I said that I wanted a picture with one of us in front of the sign.  Less than 5 minutes later we walked back to the sign and found a man was well on his way to taking down the sign.  Of course, we have no idea what the sign was for.  Swimmers?  It was facing the ocean.
