This morning we walked down to the market under the metro tracks at Grenelle. Everyone was dressed for a cold day. One young women tending a stall was almost dancing back and forth to try to keep warm.
As usual there were about two produce vendors with long lines of waiting customers. Others had no one looking at all. Fruit is very expensive and tomatoes cost the earth. Well almost. So much comes from Spain, but we even saw grapes from South America.
On rue Cler there is a shop with a few cherries for sale. I wonder if anyone will find the desire to buy them. They were 39.95 Euros a kilo. Ugh.
There is now a Picards just down from Monoprix close to this shop.
Monoprix was just the same but I am not sure it is worth it to buy our daily or regular groceries there. I haven't looked in other stores yet, but the only peanut butter Monoprix carries is Jiffy. It is 4.95 for a very small jar. I might be giving up peanut butter for the near future.
Despite it being so cold, we have enjoyed our brief walks outside and I love the view from my window. It is sunny and cold, but the tour Eiffel is surrounded with mist.
Taking pictures is not terrific since it means taking off the gloves to take a photo. I have a few to send you when I get them downloaded.
We went to the creperie for lunch. Lunch was so good and I came away after dessert feeling comfortably full. Their crepes and galettes are still so delicious. And of course, they are folded in their signature triangles.
One of my regrets is that I did not pack a pile of sugar free hot chocolate mixes. Which reminds me that I did bring the ones I got at Christmas from Santa Claus. Now where did I put those?
Until later.
