WASHINGTON --A series of small fires forced hotel guests at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park at Woodley Park in the District to sleep in the facility's ballrooms overnight Friday.
Marriott spokesperson Mark Indre says the fires were primarily in the stairwells.
As a precaution, guests were relocated from their rooms into the ballrooms. But Tweets from guests who were at the hotel for the American Political Science Association conference show people sleeping throughout the vast hotel's public spaces.
D.C. Fire spokesperson Tim Wilson says the cause of the fires is still under investigation. The hotel eventually returned to normal operations Saturday morning, but not before the incident was made light of throughout the Twitter universe. "APSA just met its goal of making itself news-relevant -- conference hotel fire just made local news," Tweeted Maya Sen, who joined the others at hashtag, #APSA2014.
Marriott is directing further questions to the fire department.

The winner of the lucky draw for the question on which president is a master at handling Congress is Earl Fry (BYU), who will be getting copy of Tough Times for the President! Thanks to everyone who participated.

I completely missed this note about MY Professor on the bottom of the page.  One of our children pointed it out to me.  I guess he'll be getting the book in the mail sometime.  By the way, the answer is LBJ.
